It is important to know where we came from so we can see where we are going. The people who settled in the plains in modern day Poland, polonia, were part of the larger group known as West Slavs. West Slavs also include the Kashubians, Czechs, Sorbs and Silesians. Even though there were commonalities within this category, each subgroup also developed individual cultural characteristics in such things as clothing for instance. I have begun researching what Polish Slavic woman would have worn prior to the 11th century. I call myself a student. I am always learning. Archeologists are constantly discovering new finds. What items I present can be documented to archeological sites in Poland. I am not saying these items are exclusively Polish. In spite of what we have been led to believe, people did travel and migrate. They shared parts of their cultures. I will do my best to note what has only been found in Poland, which can change with the next discovery and what has been found in other areas as well. In order for me to add something to my personal kit, it has to at least have been documentable to an archeological site in Poland.
